Before everyone sits down to create their blends, we'll take your group on a tour of our tea factory and introduce you to the fascinating world of yaupon holly.

If you've never heard of yaupon, you're not alone. Many people are surprised to learn that Florida has its own naturally caffeinated native plant.

Yaupon holly is native to the southeastern United States and is the only plant native to North America that naturally contains caffeine. Indigenous communities have a long history of harvesting and drinking yaupon, and we're proud to be part of bringing this uniquely American tea back into everyday life.

During the tour, we'll walk you through the process of turning a wild Florida plant into the tea you drink.

From a Wild Florida Plant to Your Teacup

We'll start outside, where you'll see the wild yaupon trees growing naturally, along with our yaupon garden featuring different cultivars commonly used in landscaping.

Then we'll take you inside to explore the steps involved in making our tea:

• Washing and sanitizing the harvested leaves.

• Drying the leaves over a period of three to four days.

• Grinding the dried leaves.

• Blending yaupon with other ingredients.

• Preparing and packaging the finished tea into tea bags.

After the factory tour, everyone gathers around our blending table to start creating.

We'll provide a yaupon tea base and approximately ten different botanicals, herbs, spices, and other ingredients to choose from. You'll have the creative freedom to experiment with different combinations and develop a recipe based on your personal taste preferences.

You don't need any previous tea knowledge or blending experience. That's part of the fun!

Experiment, Taste, and Make It Your Own

Each participant receives a recipe card to document their ingredients and proportions.

From there, the creative process begins.

You'll select your ingredients, combine them with our yaupon base, and prepare your own tea in a teapot so you can experience how your creation tastes.

And don't worry if your first attempt isn't quite what you imagined.

One of the things I love about using yaupon as our base is how smooth and clean it tastes.

Unlike traditional tea made from Camellia sinensis, yaupon is naturally very low in tannins. That means you don't get the same bitterness or astringency that can sometimes overpower other flavors.

Once you're happy with your creation, we'll package it in a custom pouch. You'll even get to name your tea!
